The Renault part of the M/H has performed flawlessly so far. Running continuously at very close to 3500 Kg, with most jouneys on country roads, 28.9 mpg is better than I expected for a 7 metre-long motorhome. The vehicle happily reverses under total control up a 1 in 8 hill when I do a 3 -point turn in my driveway every time I go out. I find smooth and progressive use of the throttle almost always produces a seamless change up or down. The off-load/very low speed rattle is still there in the back-ground and I do not notice it unless I consciously listen for it. Mine has done 16000 miles over 31 months and I am still completely happy with it. It pretty much says this in the owners manual. You have to remember that, to quote the Renault dealer, it's NOT an automatic gearbox, but a robotized manual!! It seems a mistake to drive it too gently as one tends to do when you buy a vehicle much bigger than you're used too, but I've found that if you just "go for it" it seems to drive much better. I have found the gearbox quite difficult to get used to even with 35 years driving experience, many of them on automatics. What I have read here makes me think he's probably right and it's nothing to worry about. I was worried about it and took it to a Renault dealer who said that he thought it was probably normal. It too rattles when I crawl up my access road in first at just above tickover speed. It has done 6500 miles before I bought it. I have just bought a Devon motorhome conversion on a Renault Master 100dci van with the Quickshift gearbox. It may be my mechanical ignorance is temporary bliss, but I am not losing any sleep over the rattle. Nothing adverse was reported by the dealer who carried out the first annual service, but of course I had not asked them to comment on the rattle. Having grown up in an era when all the commercial vehicles I drove sounded like there were 10 guys hitting metal blocks with sledge hammers under the bonnet, I was staggered by my Renault's comparatively civilised driving environment, so I readily accepted the rattle as a minor irritation, characteristic of the vehicle. It mainly occurs on the overun as the vehicle slows, say for a junction or on site. ![]() The rattle is the same now as it was at first and I have become so used to it I no longer notice it - your post reminded me of its existence. I noticed the rattle on my Renault 2.5 dci 120 Quickshift6-equipped van from new and have since done 11284 miles over 18 months. Subject: RE: Quickshift Renault Master-Opel/Vauxhall Movano So it's not a bug but a feature?! Is there anyone here who could share his/her experiences with the aforementioned problem? Thanks a lot! He even advised me to go to a Renault dealership to get a second verdict about the gearbox. He said there was nothing wrong with the gearbox and there was nothing Opel could (or would) do for me. He stated that the noise would be perfectly normal for this kind of gearbox. My ever so helpful dealer couldn't help me, so we arranged a meeting with a specialist from Opel to have a look at my car. You can't hear it when the engine revs more, possibly because the engine's noise drowns the rattling noise. ![]() The gearbox performs beautifully but there is an annoying rattling sound when the engine is working under 2000/min. My Opel Movano (= Renault Master) is equipped with the self-shifting gearbox called Quickshift (or Tecshift in Opel-speak).
